Math help in Salem, OR.

As senior year of high school comes around, you’re probably looking forward to all the fun activities associated with it. While it is a year to enjoy, don’t get too distracted while planning for your future. The college application process can be tedious and stressful, but make sure you take it seriously and give it your best. Here at The Tutoring Center in Salem, we have some tips to help you get through the process without getting too stressed out.

  1. Start early- It’s never too early to get started with your college applications. Once you know what schools you will be applying to, check their websites and get to know their requirements. Start the application process early to save yourself from unnecessary stress.
  2. Get organized- Once you’ve checked the requirements for the schools you’re interested in, set up a calendar with deadlines for the items you’ll need. Take note of the official deadlines, but make sure you have your items ready to go before then. Plan ahead and give yourself enough time to write your essays and revise them. Ask for letters of recommendation early, and don’t be embarrassed to check on them if they’re taking too long.
  3. Revise everything- Once you have finished filling out your applications, have someone else revise them for you before submitting them. Have your teachers check you essays and edit them accordingly. Make sure your transcripts and test scores are correct and are being sent to the right schools.
  4. Don’t wait- Avoid submitting things on deadline day and instead aim to finish sooner. Remember that any documents that need to be sent through the mail should be mailed out a couple weeks prior to their deadline. Avoid the stress of not knowing if things will make it on time by being ahead of schedule.
  5. Confirm and copy- If you are applying online, make sure you get confirmation that your items were received. Save confirmation numbers, emails and any other important items that might help you should a problem arise. For items sent through the mail, request delivery confirmation to make sure your items reach their destination. Save receipts with tracking numbers in case your items get lost. Make copies of important documents you are sending out and keep them on file.
  6. Stay focused- Don’t get too distracted by the fun of senior year, and remember that colleges still take into account your final grades. If you have received a scholarship or acceptance based on your GPA, don’t let it slip. Have fun, but remember that your academics shouldn’t suffer.
